TRUTH WILL TRIUMPH

It is given for any person to become enraged at the suggestion that two innocent girls were raped and murdered in Shopian. But it is very easy to join the mob and participate in a witch hunt than to suggest that we stand back and think calmly. After all, one can never be criticized for saying things that are the popular sentiment at the time. Sadly, without any witnesses and strong evidence, the common sentiment in Kashmir is that our two little sisters in Shopian were raped and murdered. I am not denying that a heinous incident took place in Shopian, but I would like to suggest that we wait till all details of the incident are investigated by experts.
The truth is that we still do not know all the facts that surround these tragic deaths. Just like all Kashmiris, I have read all the news stories, confirmed from reliable sources, and have come to the conclusion that the experts should be given time to find out the truth about this most unfortunate incident. If the forensic experts conclude that the girls were in fact victims of rape and murder, then no stone should be left unturned to hunt down the perpetrators, and in bringing them to justice. But the emphasis is on the term “if”, which means that we should trust the doctors, investigators, and the Kashmir police ( Considering they are themselves Kashmiris, perhaps with young daughters of their own) to perform their job thoroughly and only then draw our conclusions.
The other option is that we leave our justice system to the mob and various other political groups with their own vested interests, who will decide the outcome of any tragic incident that happens in Kashmir. In that case, we would not need any forensic experts, no DNA testing, and no police investigation because the leaders of the mob will be deciding the outcome of any unfortunate incident that takes place in Kashmir. It makes me so sad that people are not able to see through the crocodile tears of PDP leaders such as Mehbooba Mufti. As if any complaints against the security forces were ever investigated, let alone concluded, during the time her party was in power. Therefore her antics of attempting to march to Shopian makes no sense other than make her look desperate for attention.
I am fully aware that there is a trust deficit for the administration in Kashmir because of the actions and hollow promises of successive previous governments here. But is it fair that we banish the word “trust” from our vocabulary for ever? I do not think it is fair because I truly believe that the saying “When deeds speak, words are nothing” applies to our current CM. He squeezed out the truth about the Bomai murders even when everyone saw a dead-end. He made sure that justice was served in the Khaigam murder even when the perpetrators were calling it a militant encounter. Given these facts why should I not believe Omar when he asks me to wait till the experts conclude their investigation?
Let me for a moment examine the argument of the leaders currently inciting Kashmiris. They want us to believe that the current administration is hushing up the case somehow. This argument is preposterous. If this were the case then the inquiry into the Bomai murders would not have implicated the army personnel against tremendous pressure from the army or the investigation into the Khaigman murders would not have concluded that the CRPF men committed a murder. The investigation in both cases was called by Omar Abdullah and was carried out independently by the Kashmir Police without outside pressure from the CM’s office. If the CM was somehow trying to hush up all cases of human rights violations, then he would not discriminate about which case to hush up and which case to proceed forward with.
I fail to see why the current investigation would be hushed up or altered in any way. Not only is a man of impeccable character like Justice Jan leading this investigation, there is also a team of doctors assisting in the investigation. It will be very hard for the truth to be suppressed collectively by all these respected Kashmiri professionals investigating this case. I have full faith in the investigators, forensic experts, the doctors and the DNA specialists to determine whether the young girls were raped and murdered.
And lastly, if we do not see reason then I believe that the greatest tragedy in the deaths of our dear sisters is the hijacking of this incident by some self obsessed leaders for their own narrow interests. I believe that law should take its course in all such unfortunate incidents, and for any civilized society it is imperative that we let the investigators thoroughly do their job and get to the bottom of a case without outside pressure. We want the truth to emerge no matter how bitter it is.

Dear Sir,
This refers to your article,SHOPIAN TRAGEDY,6-6-09.Your views regarding the whole issue are highly deplorable and unfortunate. You seem to belong to that class of society, which take pleasure in commenting from their cozy drawing rooms. I appreciate you for following the government version word by word. Rest all doesn’t seem to matter for you at all.
Like your idol, Omar Abdullah, you seem to be confused and lacking the guts to accept the truth. ”Sadly, without any witnesses and strong evidence, the common sentiment in Kashmir……………….. I am not denying that a heinous incident took place in shopian.” these words of your prove your contradictory nature and confusion.
As for witness, only an insane person can ask for a witness in rape. Rape doesn’t take place in full public view. At least not in Kashmir. Our conscience is still alive. And the culprits themselves silenced the ones, who could narrate the facts.
As for evidence, the last phone conversation of these two unfortunate girls, talking about CRPF men following them, the gory condition of their bodies and private parts, their tattered clothes, the report of lady doctor, after the first autopsy, etc, etc. are enough to prove that the girls were brutally gang raped and then murdered. Maybe your and state govt. expects both the victims to rise from dead and tell their unfortunate tale!
I think you are suffering from memory loss and can’t remember things properly. The present trust deficit is not because of previous governments but due to the irresponsible statement of divisional commissioner and your idol Omar Abdullah himself. Initially govt. said this was a simple case of drowning. It was only after Mr. Syed Ali Shah Geelani asked people to protest against this inhuman act, that govt. changed its statement. If people had not taken to the streets and called for justice, in the light of strong present evidence, the state govt. had closed this case, like other innumerable cases.
Your options seem to revolve around your own thinking only. There are two options, but not the ones you make us to believe. First option is to wait for govt. inquiry, which has become untrustworthy, after the insensitiveness and contradictory nature of our useless and helpless leaders. Second option, as majority demands, is to go for an independent probe, by some trustworthy local body or an international agency. People who are against the govt. are not against the proble, as u want to believe us by tongue twisting, but against the probe by any govt. agency.
People have every reason to be suspicious, rightly so, after going through the statements of the govt. and their brutal actions against peaceful demonstrators. They are using everything to muzzle the voice of common people. We are living in a police state, ruled by Indian stooges, where people don’t have right to express their sentiments. Even peaceful demonstrations are quelled by ruthless force. Law takes its own course, at the places where law exists. There is no law in Kashmir. Our experience of past 62 years is a witness to this unfortunate fact.
So the best option is to probe this unfortunate incident through some independent body, whether local, international or reputed Indian human rights activists like Goutam Navlakha,Arundhatti Roy can also help. Secondly expulsion of Indian forces from Kashmir. They are an inhuman, ruthless, undisciplined lot. They are not meant for civilized societies but valley of chambal. Sooner they leave better for us. Majority of Kashmir’s doesn’t want Indian presence here. We have seen a lot of oppression and can’t take it anymore. Let pro Indian, pro govt. and anti human forces bear it in mind, their days are numbered. We want truth and justice to prevail. We want freedom.

Dear Mr Sadiq,

It is very traditional for Kashmir’s to betray their own countrymen either by their words or their actions and you are not an exception. If allowed let me refresh your memory when innocent people were killed by security personnel at pathribal, a physically challenged youth at Munwarabad etc and the list is huge (if you need it can be arranged), what justice was served in these instances. Dear, this is not the fight for justice (which cannot be expected from an occupying nation) but fight for freedom, honour & dignity. As far as your praises for Mr Omar Abdullah goes whole world know your allegiance to that traitor family. As far as I am concerned they (NC) is a bigger foe than India. Their significance in the overall picture is nothing except they represent not kashmiri sentiment but of their masters from Delhi. Trust me that when authentic history of my nation will be written Abdullah’s will go down in it as TRAITORS along with the people who side with them( to prove this a dead man’s grave who died 20 year’s back is under heavy armed gaurd). By the way on personal note, I think the wound of not getting NC ticket has healed (how, the reasons better known to you). I know these words have no significance for you as you have sold your soul to the devil (NC). I myself am a sinner and am sure that I will see you in hell.

You could have used your articulating skill to better use, but................

Balanced view, Tanvir. Whoever did this crime should be punished and no doubt about that. If all Kashmiri brethren help to create an atmosphere so that the Army can go back to barracks, it is your land, but Kashmmiris cannot help stop the cross border terrorism through infiltration and if all work towards this, Army will go back to barracks as it was till 198?, where the cross border incursion brought back the Army there. It should be noted that wherever Army stayed for longer time, there have been incidents of gross violations within all parts of India and hence concentrated effort to be made to empower kashmiris and to send back the Army to the border and that should be the first priority, instead of blaming every stone on the way.

@ RAY lIGHTNING,

Before u go further and accuse Kashmiris of all the wrong doings, think why organisations like Hizbul-Mujahideen or others were born in Kashmir.

I am against all forms of violence be it HM/LET or the Indian state sponsored terrorism in Kashmir but try n ponder about:

What were the circumstances that led to the birth of these organizations.

No society is evil just as no religion is satanic, but when injustices keep on mounting and people are kept away from their rights.....Organizations like HM or LET take roots.....very much like how Bhagat Singh/Raj Guru/Sukhdev/Tantia Tope/Chand Bibi/Tipu Sultan/Mangal Pandey etc took to violence.

I know you will still see us Kashmiris from the prism of your Indian affiliations but for once be neutral and try to do some research.

A video I made on history of Kashmir. All feedback's are welcome.
