If there is one lesson of the past 19 years, it is that conscience remains the truest guide. "A man does what he must,". Today Omar Abdullah proved what he says, the dead cannot be brought back but it will defiantly send a message to people who think elected governments are remote controlled by Delhi.
Many of my fellow bloggers have been so very against the present dispensation and the recent killings was one of their excuse to launch a diatribe against the CM , one of the bloggers had started a countdown game. No wonder he thought that running an elected government was as easy as writing a blog. Although I am sure all of us condemned what happed in bomia, but we do not want Kashmir to be talbanaised, so in a democracy everything happens under the umbrella called “LAW”. It has never happened in the history of Kashmir’s insurgency that the army has admitted that they are at fault and taken action against their JCO and some junior officers. Atleast give this credit to the CM, he made a beginning.
I am sure we have wasted enough years hoping for the impossible. The world geography has been changing every fifty years. May be it does someday. Till then let us opt for peace and progress. In the changed global context boundaries are disappearing and narrow nationalism is fast losing its appeal. Economy is preceding ideals and ideologies. We have entered an era where hollow slogans and destructive emotionalism have absolutely no relevance. It’s high time that people start taking decisions. As they rightly say “You're not supposed to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who says it.

The indian army act is getting archaic. India should revoke it unconditionally. Increased autonomy for Kashmir (and to other Indian states) is helpful for cementing the national identity and to promote democracy.
I hope Omar takes the lead and provide the voice for the need for increased federalism. He will find support from politicians all over the country, from the deepest south to the farthest east.
People want whole military existence out of the valley.They have admitted of course but that will not justify their brutal stance and record against us.
No grudges.Lets see when will he revoke all those laws and works for the victims.I already said it is too early to comment.

I admit that omar is the only chief minister who has kept his words.We should not ignore the fact that he is acting tough on people who do not respect human rights . But do you think he will be supported by the central government after election. Isnt it just an election gimmick.

Look sweetie,this is not the first time army has admitted its flaws.Just analyze the histogram of Omar Abdullah's political career.What has he achieved at center during his tenure of 10 years?Where was he when Gujarat riots happened?Wasn't his Amaranth land route speech,an election gimmick-So that he could win over Congress's trust?
For what should I love him?I already said its too early to comment.Instead of asking me,its better YOU,Mr.anonymous ask your conscience-What reforms has Omar Abdullah made till now?

Couldnt help but notice the subliminal jab at me in this post.
Maybe your Omar won this round. He still has a long way to go. There is a wide gap between an inquiry report and standing in the witness box in a court of law.
Be forewarned that you people will not get away with mere suspension and rebuking the soldiers, they have to be brought before the courts. We are watching.

The next thing to do would be to evacuate the army bunkers from schools, and to stop the frisking of school children (especially girls) by soldiers.
Let the demands be placed point by point on the Omar Abdullah administration, and then let's evaluate his success in dealing with the Indian army and parliament.

Tanvir--I was watching a news channel where they showed Taliban's justice system. Two people had killed a guy and looted him before throwing his body on a roadside. After few days both the culprits were apprehended and the father of the guy who was killed was told what he wants to do with those guys. He was told according to shariah that either he can forgive them or see them persih.
The old man chosed the second option. And hence the justice was reached out--within a week.
Dear, we have more than 400 cases of custodial disapprence against troops which are waiting trail and requires new delhi's nod from past several years. Can you ask Mr CM to help nab those troopers and get the families a respite they are craving for since decades.
I am sure he can't do that because that will demoralise all troops fighting handful of militants in kashmir.
